The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Vaccinations for All is excited to announce our in-person afternoon reception in partnership Results UK, Save the Children UK, UNICEF UK, Malaria No More UK and the ONE Campaign on ‘The Future of Vaccines‘.
To commemorate World Immunisation Week, the event will take place on Tuesday, 30th April 2024 at 13:30-16:00 in the Churchill Room, House of Commons. Afternoon tea will be served.
It will feature a panel of high-level speakers, including:
- Professor Isabel Oliver, Director General of Science and Research & Chief Scientific Officer at the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA)
- Eduard Molnar, Director of Sovereign & Private Sector Engagement, Donor Relations & Campaigns at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance
- Dianne Stewart, Deputy Director of the External Relations and Communication Department at The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
- Dr Kirsty Roy, Consultant in Health Protection (HIV & STIs) at Public Health Scotland
The event aims to peek into the future of vaccines by looking at:
- The success of the HPV vaccine in preventing cervical and other cancers, and how vaccine technology can be used to prevent and, potentially, treat cancer
- The historic development of the first malaria vaccines and how progress in immunisation technology may facilitate the creation of new vaccines, including for other neglected tropical diseases
- The role that vaccines can play in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
- How we can ensure that the global delivery of and access to vaccines is effective, sustainable and equitable to improve health and save lives
Capacity is limited so if you would like to attend, please register by emailing Camila Consolmagno on vfa.secretariat@results.org.uk at your earliest convenience. A formal invitation necessary to pass through security will follow – we hope to see you there.
